Darryl Barking Dog Brown leads community art workshops

Participants collaborate on a large canvas as Darryl teaches about his artistic process and style. After the event, he finishes the painting using black paint—the 'universal eraser.' Each painting is a unique meditation on collective and universal consciousness.

Darryl's community workshops empower participants to elevate their consciousness through art while addressing the harm of colonialism and capitalism. He reclaims indigenous narratives through redefining technology, ultimately showing how native stereotypes of "primitivity" are propaganda meant to suppress different knowledge systems. Participants leave his workshops with shifted worldviews about the systems and institutions around them and with the ancestral tools to access the deep cosmic knowledge that still lives within each of us.

Read about his most recent community workshop collaboration with Unity Vibration Kombucha in Ypsilanti in the latest issue of Crazy Wisdom Journal. You can also check out the collaborative painting at the Ypsilanti location. Below is a before (left) and after (right) of the painting participants co-created and Darryl's visual storytelling in black.
